The beginning of February means paper hearts, cupids, and those cute-but-ever-so-chalky little heart candies everywhere! We brought out our Valentines decorations just in time for the February Ladies tea. What a turn out! We had over forty ladies join us for red velvet cookies, a selection of tea, and a special project; an angel heart tree. Our host Jeni passed out paper hearts and everyone wrote a special Valentines day wish or memory. The Valentines were then taken and put up on our bulliten board for all to read for the rest of the month.

January Birthday Night

Once a month we host a special birthday night for our residents who have birthdays in that month. January had 13 birthdays! This month we celebrated with The Pumperstix, a local polka band specializing in traditional German Polka. As usual, we always serve three entre options for dinner and on birthday night we serve a little more “gourmet”. And no birthday night is complete without cake and ice cream!

With all the rush of the holidays, Woodland Estates would like to wish you and your family a happy new year! 2010 brought it’s ups and downs. We were sad to say goodbye to a few of our beloved residents but incredibly happy to see all the new faces the year has brought us! In these times of economic uncertainties, it is the love and friendship that we hold onto this time of the year. With the Christmas season still in our hearts, the staff and residents bid you a joyful new year. We hope your homes are filled with peace in 2011.

Holiday Arts and Crafts Bazaar 2010

Please join us on Friday, November 12th from 9am to 3pm for our annual holiday bazaar!

We will be hosting a variety of crafters and artists from all over the area. A warm and tasty lunch buffet will be served from 11:30am-1pm for $7.50. This is a great time to get some of your holiday shopping done and get in the mood for Christmas!

September Ladies’ Tea

Our ladies had a wonderful tea party this month honoring the workers and labor movement of the 20th century. In addition to a variety of teas, we celebrated with fresh fruit kabobs and cookies. The garden room was beautifully decorated by our hostess Melissa with silk neck ties and soild leather breifcases; even a vintage typewriter! Our ladies enjoyed the centerpieces inspired by the jobs many of they or their husbands once held.

Between sips of tea and a couple activities, our ladies shared about their own experiences being in the workforce. We were surprised to find out we had so many true Rosie-the-Riveters! From teachers to nurses to entrepreneurs, our ladies have held all sorts of jobs! The stories we heard definitely turned out to be the highlight of the tea.

Next month we will welcome in Autumn with a harvest tea!
